THE FRIENDS (Tang Dynasty/Li Bai)

(Translated by Capella Cao)

Your horse is yellow and mine is white.

Although the colors are different, our hearts are not.

A joyous trot down Luo Yang Boulevard.

Swords glisten in the sun; lustrous red headdresses.

Wearing priceless furs, we are guests of prominent nobility.

Now, even fierce tigers sometimes fall into traps, brave men are not spared.

No noble act above aiding our brethren,

What good is it if we only care about ourselves while friends are in peril.
